Like so many retail pacesetters, Interior Design Hall of Fame member William Sofield cut his teeth consulting for Ralph Lauren. Then, during a partnership with Thomas O’Brien at Aero Studios in the 1990’s, Sofield had the opportunity to design stores for Donna Karen. His current New York outfit, Studio Sofield, has famously kitted up shops for Gucci, under Tom Ford, as well as Bottega Veneta, Yves Saint Laurent, and Boucheron. After Bally’s creative director Brian Atwood left that post, he approached the firm about a flagship for his signature shoes and accessories.
