ARCHITECTURE & JUSTICE
january 2003
A foot traveler, caught by rain and nightfall, is forced to seek shelter. In a grove of reeds, the traveler becomes architect, builder, and interior designer. Perimeter reeds are tied in a knot at top to form roof and walls, those in the center folded over carefully to provide a mattress. In the morning the reeds are untied and unfolded, the traveler continues a journey. The grove is returned essentially to its original state, save for some minor creases and tears which will, for a short time, Bec the only evidence of the traveler’s existence. In time, these too will be erased.
